The first time you visit Darwin Orthodontics you will be greeted by our friendly reception staff, beginning your initial orthodontic consultation and your smile journey! We know that most of our patients are pursuing orthodontic treatment for the first time, so we will do everything we can to make this new experience easy.
Understanding your
orthodontic needs
Having successful orthodontic treatment begins at the very first consultation appointment. During this time, we ensure we have all the necessary information to provide you with the most comprehensive care possible. Here is what happens during your first visit to our offices in Darwin, Palmerston, or Tiwi.
Medical and dental
information
We will ask you to complete a questionnaire that captures prerequisite medical and dental information and allows you to highlight your concerns and objectives for your orthodontic treatment programme. This will get our team up to speed with your unique circumstances.
Orthodontic records
We suggest our patients get clinical photos and x-rays (radiographs). These are called “diagnostic records” and they enable our orthodontist to develop a suitable treatment plan for you or your child.
Examination
You’ll then get a chance to discuss your orthodontic goals and objectives with one of our doctors. He will perform a full orthodontic check-up and note any information that might impact your recommended treatment plan.
Review options
Once our experienced clinician has a clear picture of your orthodontic concerns, goals and desires for treatment, we will review potential treatment options to get an idea of what you may prefer.
Starting treatment
Once you are ready, we will get you set up with a follow-up appointment to further discuss your options. At the second appointment, we will explain the treatment in detail, review the timeframes and length of treatment, and discuss expected outcomes and cost.
After you select your treatment and payment method, we will get you scheduled for your fitting appointment.
